QUESTIONS ABOUT POOL COSTS
How much does it cost to build a swimming pool?
Costs for building a swimming pool vary tremendously from one job to another. Things like the size and shape of the pool, site access and type of pool filtration all affect the cost. On average the cost of constructing a swimming pool in a family home would be between 15,000 and 25,000 Euro.
How much does it cost to maintain a swimming pool?
Running costs vary greatly depending on the location of the pool, type of filtration system and even the frequency of use. For example children splashing in and out of a pool waste more water than an elderly couple that uses the pool less aggressively. As a rough indication it can be assumed that the cost of owning a swimming pool is between 1000 and 2000 Euros annually.
Does pool equipment consume a lot of electricity?
A 1hp pool filter pump consumes 1500W of electricity or as much as a hair dryer or air conditioner. This is operating for a few hours a day depending on the size and frequency of use of the pool.
I got a quote from another pool contractor that is substantially higher than yours, why is this?
We are well aware that our prices are considerably lower than those of some other pool contractors in Malta and Gozo. This stems mainly from the fact that we are happy working for less profit than some of our competitors. We source better priced products and materials and employ contractors that are not after making a quick buck. We assure you of the highest levels of quality and are willing to provide you with references of satisfied clients for you to verify this.
Do I need a licence to have a swimming pool at home?
You need to apply for a MEPA permit to construct the swimming pool and pay The Malta Resources Authority a one-time administrative charge of 34.94 Euro as well as a registration fee of 2.33 Euro per cubic metre capacity of the swimming pool.
