DESIGN & BUILD

PROJECT
We will implement the pool construction project based on our agreed works programme. We know that building a pool at home or within a commercial development is a huge undertaking for most of our customers and we want to ensure that you are satisfied every step of the way.

Here is a guideline of a typical pool construction project. Details may vary from one job to the other but the basic process itself remains largely the same.

a. Site preparation

The site is prepared for excavation. In this particular case boundary walls were raised to reduce neighbour nuisance and increase privacy and the citrus trees were trimmed down to facilitate removal.

b. Excavation

Mechanical diggers of a suitable size are used to remove the top soil and excavate the bed rock to the required levels. Soil can be kept for reuse or removed from the site depending on the final finish desired and space available.

c. Construction commences

After levelling off the pool floor with a small jack hammer, the outside wall is built all around the pool space.

Gravel is then placed on the ground to lay the concrete to falls and steel mesh is applied on the floor and side wall. This is very important to add very strong reinforcement to the floor and pool wall casting them as one solid piece.

The next step is that of pouring the floor.

After a few days, an inside wall is constructed also using 9 inch concrete bricks. Accessories such as skimmer, pool lights, Jacuzzi jets, etc. are placed at this stage before the final concrete pour.

More C25 concrete is then poured inside both brick walls and in the 6 inch space between them to form a solid 2 foot thick wall and floor structure able to withstand the high pressure from the large volume of water the pool will hold.

d. Rendering

The inside walls are rendered and coated with two coats of waterproof paint to completely seal off the pool structure.

A border of mosaic tiles is often applied on the waterline to add decoration and stone coping is laid out on the top border to cap off the pool structure completely.

e. Equipment

A suitable pump and filter are installed and tested by one of our professional installers and the owner is given a demonstration on simple self maintenance procedures.
